The human side of care

Some things shouldn’t be automated.

Technology is getting better at answering questions, booking visits and summarizing records. It can’t sit beside you in a hospital room. We are building Caregma on the belief that care still needs a person who shows up.

Presence, not a chatbot

A real person, in the room, who knows your name and stays.

Dignity when it matters

Hospital days are long and lonely. Company changes how they feel.

Trust you can verify

Vetted companions with clear boundaries, so family can feel at ease.

A day we are designing for

A hospital stay, with company.

It is the second afternoon of a hospital stay. Her daughter lives two states away. A Caregma companion arrives, sits with her, and writes down what the doctor said on rounds.

That evening, her daughter gets a plain-language summary, and she doesn’t spend the day alone.

Imagined scenario, not a real patient.
Who it’s for

The health system is hard to navigate alone.

Clinicians have limited time, so practical, non-clinical support often isn’t covered. When family or friends aren’t available, patients can be left to get through appointments, procedures and recovery on their own.

Older adults living alone

Someone to listen, ask questions and remember the instructions.

Surgery & procedure days

Same-day procedures often require an escort — and a ride isn’t the same as a person who stays.

Newcomers to the system

Immigrants and others learning an unfamiliar healthcare system.

Families stretched thin

Single parents and relatives juggling jobs and care who can’t be everywhere.

How it will work

Three steps to someone beside you.

This is the experience we are testing. Your answers on the waitlist tell us what to build first.

Where a companion helps

From the bedside to the hallway.

Real support, when it matters most. These are the moments we are building Caregma for.

Clear boundaries

Support, not medical care.

Caregma companions are non-clinical by design, so you always know exactly what to expect.

A companion can

  • Stay with you during an appointment, procedure or hospital stay
  • Help you find your way around the facility
  • Take notes on what the care team says
  • Accompany you on discharge day

A companion does not

  • Diagnose or give medical advice
  • Provide hands-on personal care
  • Manage medications
